Skin Boosters 101 - what’s the hype?

Skinboosters have taken the beauty and aesthetic medical fields by storm in recent years, with countless high profile names attributing their youthful glow to these popular treatments. But - what actually are they and what does the treatment involve? Dr Ben explains all.

Skinboosters are a type of injectable treatment that aims to improve the appearance and quality of the skin by adding moisture, improving elasticity, and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Skinboosters typically consist of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps to keep skin hydrated and supple. Some products have additional ingredients to improve the clinical result of the treatment (Belotero Revive - a favourite at The Face Clinic - also has glycerol, a powerful hydrator,  added).

When injected into the skin, skin boosters act as a hydrating and tightening treatment, improving skin texture and providing a subtle plumping effect. They are not, however, a dermal filler so will not add significant volume to the area treated.  These treatments also stimulate cells within the skin called fibroblasts - these cells are responsible for the production of skin tightening proteins collagen and elastin so post-treatment patients can expect to see tighter and more “supple” skin!

Belotero Revive is an advanced skincare product designed to rejuvenate the skin and reduce visible signs of aging. It is formulated with a unique combination of hyaluronic acid and glycerol, which help to hydrate the skin, improve elasticity, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Belotero Revive is suitable for all skin types and can be used to enhance the overall texture and tone of the skin.
